Corfu Wines
Here in Corfu wine is normally drunk pure, that is without any chemical additives and even if it is diluted, it brings ones heart and sole to life.
Corfiots drink lots of wine, quite often a product originating from their own vineyards. The most popular pure wines such as kakotrigis, moschato, petrokoritho and fraoula are always present on a Corfiot table especially in the villages.
| Kakotrigis: | A sweet, dry, lightly flavoured white wine which should be drunk cold. This wine is produced all over the island. |
|---|---|
| Petrokoritho: | A dry red (brousko) wine, a product of Sinarades village which accompanies bourdeta and pastitsades. |
| Fraoula: | A strong heavy red wine, however this is not very popular. |
| Moschato: | A mellow and light but distinctly flavoured white wine originating from the area of Pantokrator. |
| Martzavi: | A dry mellow wine made from dark red grapes with a heavy taste, known as black wine by the Corfiots. |
